It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and once went over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are the only things left for a team that has achieved everything.

That it took as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their hitters to hold a record if not provided the possibility.

Ultimately, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to produce her most recent brilliance.

Then best known as the teenage relative of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after Australia didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups conducted earlier and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven world titles have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the subsequent ODI World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display remains open for discussion.

Many contend the case for final game tension. Some might respond with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you step out on the field, your competitive instincts activate and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her great strength - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 balls - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her hundred in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three big hits.

By the time she was dismissed the team needed 66 additional runs at a run-a-ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is uncharted waters so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we believe we can do it."

Those words will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a sense they will triumph from any situation has grown stronger - this triumph coming after victory over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with old rivals England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated through the pain.

But while she afterwards confessed those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.
